16 g of baking powder for cakes
150 g of granulated sugar
100 g of soft butter
1 dl of milk
4 renette apples
rind of 1 lemon
1 pinch of salt
Cut the apples into slices and moisten them with lemon juice to prevent them from turning black. Prepare the dough by mixing 3 egg yolks with the sugar and whisk the 3 egg whites in another container. Add the soft butter, milk and grated lemon rind to the yolks and continue whipping. Sift the flour and a sachet of yeast and add them gently to the dough. Also add a pinch of salt. Finally mix everything with the whipped egg whites. Pour some slices of apple into the dough, leaving some to be placed on the cake surface for decoration. Pour the mixture into a buttered and floured mold and bake at 180 ° C for about 40 minutes. After cooking, when the cake becomes cold, sprinkle the surface with icing sugar or you can replace the icing sugar with a sprinkling of cinnamon.
